When renovating your home and changing the look of the walls in your home or apartment, there are two basic ways you can go about it — using wallpaper or painting the walls.
There are pros and cons that we will discuss for both wallpaper and painting the walls, but the question is how to determine which will be the right fit for you?
When it comes to painting, you’re looking at a few different types, ranging from latex to water to oil-based paints.
Oil paints are suitable for adhesion, and this is undoubtedly a positive when it comes to how long it will last.
That being the case, oil-based paints have a tendency to yellow and chip over time, which is something you’ll have to watch out for as someone who uses the paint.
Water-based paints have the advantage that they quickly dry, which means that it will take a lot less time until you can paint a second coat.
The downside to water-based paint is that you will see it more easily get scuffed and chipped just from getting hit.
A painted wall is one of the easiest things you can clean, particularly compared to certain wallpapers that are notoriously difficult to clean.
If there are stains that are too difficult to remove by any means, it is not too much of a chore to simply paint over the stains and watch as the affected wall goes back to looking clean and lovely.
Another benefit of paint is that if you suddenly decide that you don’t like the color you’ve chosen, you can always choose another color or a couple of colors and go over the previously painted walls — leaving you with newly painted walls.
As great as it is to paint your walls, there are downsides to it as well, unfortunately.
One of the downsides is that you will need to spend quite a bit of time waiting for it to dry — and there are few things less appealing than waiting for paint to dry.
Another issue that a lot of people have is that the actual application can be quite messy and get paint everywhere if you are not careful while you are doing it.
When it comes to decorating your home, wallpaper can sometimes be one of the easier ways to go.
There is an assortment of patterns from which you can choose and makeover the rooms to look. However, you would like.
If you want, you can even get a sort of a throwback look to your home and get wallpapers that were extremely popular in another decade or century even, and get your home looking particularly one of a kind.
When it comes to wallpaper, not everything is one hundred percent perfect, as can the case.
For one, it is not particularly easy to put up wallpaper — particularly if you are just one person trying to get wallpaper on all of the walls of your apartment or home.
Though a lot of wallpapers are extremely good at being stain resistant, you will have a lot harder time getting stains off of wallpapers than you can most good quality paints. Unlike paint, it’s not exactly as simple as wallpaper over existing wallpaper with more wallpaper.
