When you’re looking to sell your house, you want to do everything in your power to make sure that it sells for the best price possible within reason.
If you were to find out that there were colors out there that would actually either reduce the selling price of your house or lower the likelihood that your house would sell, you would avoid using the colors in painting your house, true?
When people think of the color black, the first thing that usually comes to mind is funerals and all things that are somewhat morbid or to some extent, unpleasant — as well as penguins and the habits that are worn by nuns.
In the world of home decor, of course when we think about houses that are black either on the outside or the inside, people talk about places that are suspected to be haunted by the former residents or just in general things that are not exactly pleasant to consider.
It should probably come as not much of a surprise that the color black is not one that is recommended as a color to paint either the outside or the inside of your house as it will most likely decrease the chances of your selling that house unless you happen to chance upon the target audience that likes that kind of morbid thing.
Red is a color that is not all that bad when it comes to painting smaller parts of your home and not larger things, like entire walls.
If the door to your house is red, for example, that is perfectly good, but once you get to painting entire large sections of your home red, it can be entirely overwhelming to the person looking on at it.
Some would say that yellow is a perfectly good color to have in your kitchen as it is reminiscent of the sun and will fill your kitchen with brightness and light.
That being the case, you will find that the vast majority of home shoppers will disagree and not want to have a kitchen that is painted yellow.
If you’ve moved into your home and you have one person in your life that insists that they have to have a bedroom that is painted pink, that’s great, but when it comes time to sell your home, you might want to change out any bedroom that is painted pink.
It is said that the color pink is nice for those who like it, but for most people buying homes, it is just a bit much and you should opt for a different color before listing your home.
In terms of mute colors, you’re not going to get all that much muter than the color brown, but it also is a rather unpleasant and bland color in the minds of most people who will be looking to buy a home.
There’s nothing wrong with a nice earthy feel if that is your thing, but you’re not likely going to sell your home for what it is worth if you have rooms painted this dirt color.
Brown is outclassed by greenish-brown when it comes to colors that you should avoid when painting your home.
Greenish brown evokes the color of bile, and you do not want people to think about bile when they are looking to buy a home.
Bright orange works for exteriors if your house exists in a popular cartoon, but in real life it is far too bright.
Do yourself a favor and go with a color that is far less bright than bright orange if you are looking to sell your house.
